The Barrie Construction Association (BCA) and Simcoe County Home Builders Association (SCHBA) are encouraging members to support with cash and in-kind sponsorships the Base Borden Run and Operation Hero.
“In order to honour and say thank you to those who serve, who have served and those who have been lost, ‘Operation Hero’ has been established,” BCA executive director Alison Smith wrote in a note to members. “With the support of Georgian College this special scholarship will provide funding of education for the families and dependants of our troops through annual scholarships.
“You are invited to help make this scholarship program touch the lives of as many as possible and join us in saying ‘thank you’ to those who have chosen to serve,” she said.
This year, the annual 5k, 10k and half-marathon run has been scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 4 at CFB Borden.
