As the holiday season approaches, many families are looking forward to celebrations with loved ones — but for some, the focus is on how to make ends meet. Rising living costs and added seasonal expenses mean more people in our community will turn to local food banks for support in the coming weeks.
Food banks play a vital role by providing temporary food relief to individuals and families in need, while also connecting them with resources to help build long-term stability. With demand expected to rise heading into winter, community support is more important than ever.
The Barrie Construction Association (BCA) is stepping up once again to help make a difference through its annual Food Bank Challenge. The BCA will match member donations dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $2,000, in support of food banks across the region.
“Our members have always shown incredible generosity, and this campaign is a great way to give back to our community during a time when many are struggling,” the association said.
Members are encouraged to donate directly to any food bank of their choice and then report the amount to the BCA. At the end of the campaign, which runs until Dec. 24, the association will tally the total and match member contributions.
