Bertram Construction is leading the way in holiday giving after announcing a $75,000 donation to the Barrie Food Bank as part of the Barrie Construction Association’s annual BCA Food Bank Challenge.
The contribution will help the Barrie Food Bank serve more than 600 families each day at a time when food banks across Ontario are facing record demand driven by rising living costs and added pressures during the holiday season.
The BCA Food Bank Challenge encourages association members to donate directly to the food bank of their choice. To increase the impact, the BCA matched every dollar donated, up to $2,000.
In Barrie alone, more than 215 volunteers supported local food banks by collecting donations, stocking shelves, serving clients and delivering food to households facing barriers to access.
Ontario Construction News also took part in this year’s campaign, making its annual contribution in support of the initiative.
“We’ve seen firsthand how the generosity of the construction community can brighten the holidays for families who need it most,” said Chase, publisher of Ontario Construction News. “It’s about hope, support, and showing that no one is alone during the Christmas season. Thank you to our industry colleagues giving what they can, because every act of kindness truly matters.”
Beyond its support for the food bank, Bertram Construction also donated $75,000 to the Busby Centre, a Barrie-based shelter that supports people experiencing homelessness. The donation is part of a dollar-for-dollar matching fundraising program aimed at expanding services for those in need.
