Georgian College is seeking employers from Barrie to Huntsville to provide work placement opportunities for general carpentry pre-apprenticeship students.
The students have completed nine weeks of trade-related academic upgrading (courses included Apprenticeship Math, Communications, and Computers, as well as a theoretical introduction to General Carpentry), and are currently working on their Level 1- In School General Carpentry apprenticeship training.
The college says there is a wage subsidy available for a paid placement of a minimum of 240 hours over eight weeks.
Employers must be able to provide trade certification proof, WSIB and third-party liability insurance.
