The Barrie Construction Association (BCA) is preparing to launch the 19th annual edition of its flagship magazine, a publication designed to showcase major infrastructure projects and the evolving landscape of the construction industry across Simcoe County. Scheduled for release in September 2026, the magazine serves as a year-round resource for the region’s industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) sectors.
“The annual magazine continues to showcase our projects across Barrie and Simcoe County to spread the great work the association and members are doing,” said Alison Smith, executive director of the BCA.
Expanded digital reach
In a significant update for 2026, the publication will see its reach expanded through a new integration with the Ontario Construction News daily digital newspaper. This partnership is expected to bring the magazine’s content to more than 15,000 daily readers.
The magazine already maintains a broad distribution network:
- Print circulation: 5,000 copies distributed across Ontario, from Thunder Bay to Windsor and Ottawa to Toronto.
- Digital reach: An online edition that reaches an additional 12,000 readers through daily newspapers and regional websites.
- Audience demographics: Readers include general and trade contractors, architects, structural engineers, developers, and government officials.
Featured industry content
The 2026 edition will feature a mix of project highlights and industry reports. Key editorial components include the Simcoe County Construction Outlook, a report from the Council of Ontario Construction Associations (COCA), and a member project showcase.
The publication has historically covered major regional developments, such as the $100-million infrastructure push in 2025 and the $76-million Highway 400 overpass. It also highlights social initiatives, including the BCA’s “Women in Construction” bursary program, which supports the development of skilled trades like welding, plumbing, and carpentry.
Advertising and participation
The BCA is currently inviting members to participate through guest editorials, photo submissions, and advertising. New sponsorship options for 2026 include the ability to feature embedded video in the digital edition and the opportunity to include pre-printed inserts in physical copies for advertisers with at least a half-page ad.
Key deadlines for the 2026 issue:
- Advertising confirmation: June 30
- Guest editorials/columns: July 17
- Artwork/ad submission: July 24
The magazine is produced in partnership with the Ontario Construction News and Report Group of Companies.
