The BCA is partnering with Redwood Park Communities, the Government of Ontario, the County of Simcoe, the City of Barrie and the David Busby Centre to convert the Barr’s Motel at 170 Essa Rd. to furnished bachelor apartments for individuals currently experiencing chronic homelessness in our city.
The BCA is proud to offer support to Redwood through their Adopt-A-Unit campaign. Our donation covers the cost to fully renovate a motel room in to a furnished bachelor apartment, complete with kitchen, bathroom, new flooring, bed, linens and curtains.
To maximize the benefits received from the construction community, the BCA will host the tender for the Barr’s Motel conversion on our electronic plan room ‘BestBidz’. Members viewing the plans and specifications are encouraged to provide their best pricing and to offer gifts-in-kind in the form of labour and material donations.
