Motorcycle Ride for Cancer raises $12,900

2023

On Saturday, June 20, motorcyclists mounted their bikes and took off for a beautiful, sunny ride with a route to the beautiful Blue Mountains.

This year’s Ride for Cancer was the most successful ever.  Not only was there an outstanding number of participants, but the event raised a staggering $12,900; almost a 1,000 per cent increase over our first year. Thank you to the Ride for Cancer Committee for organizing such a successful day.

Past BCA president Scott Ward introduced the idea seven years ago, and the event has grown each and every year since.

This year’s well-marked route (thanks to John Cuppage of Shouldice Stone and Paul Cormier of CRS-Contractors Rental Supply) included a stop at Canadian Forces Base Borden for a Salute to Our Troops, and then carried on through Terra Nova, Eugenia and on to Collingwood.

The event committee handed out “Mountain Money Madness” cards at selected stops along route and the rider with the most money at the end of the day generously donated their winnings back to the cause.

The pack also enjoyed a delicious barbeque at Thurst-T’s Motorcycle in Collingwood.

Planning for next year’s ride on June 18, 2016 will begin early in the New Year. Contact the BCA if you would like to join the committee.
