Barrie Construction Association members not only build and rebuild our community physically, they also work towards improving the overall health of our community by supporting charities and other organizations. BCA members supported the following charities and organizations in our community this past year:

Empower Simcoe Golf Tournament: Thank you to Empower Simcoe for hosting us at their annual golf tournament. It was a great time supporting a great cause with great company.

Young Leaders Bursary: Thank to the numerous members who sponsored, promoted and reviewed applications for our annual Young Leaders’ Bursary. This year two $2,500 bursaries were awarded to very deserving individuals at the start of their construction industry careers. Congratulations:

Annual Hockey Tournament: Congratulations to the 2023 BCA Hockey Tournament champions at Wallwin Electric.

Barrie Food Bank Donation: The Barrie Construction Association was proud to be a community supporter through the launch of the Food Bank Challenge. For every dollar that was donated by members, the BCA matched it up to $2,000. In total, members raised over $80,000 for the community.

Festival of Trees: BCA members once again participated in the annual Festival of Trees fundraising efforts, with proceeds going to the Rotary Club of Barrie.

Women & Children’s Shelter of Barrie: BCA’s Women in Construction group spear-headed campaigns to assist the shelter and helped bring the outside yard back to life for the summer. Thanks to the Women in Construction group,  Tamarco Contracting Ltd.  & Rock and Gravel Boutique Ferndale Gardens for donating extra soil, mulch, flowers and plants for the outdoor spaces.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters Bowling for Kids Sake: Members participated in a bowling challenge in the BCA parking lot and supported the littles with donations – The Construction Challenge was the most successful campaign this year raising over $???? [dollar amount to follow] with overwhelming support from BCA members. Record fundraising – well done:

Rowdy Ride: Participants fired up motorcycles June 17, to raise funds for youth seeking assistance from the local chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association and raised over $7,000 this year.

Lucy’s Place: BCA members donated to cover the costs related to the operation of the building.

Wallwin Electric Services Ltd. Bursary: The award is presented to a student enrolled in a post-secondary institution or construction trade apprenticeship and promotes the construction industry as a viable career in the skilled trades. Thank you to Wallwin Electric Services Ltd. for being a part of the solution to the skilled trades shortage. Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC): BCA members attended the 2023 CAWIC Gala, to encourage women to join the trades!

Adopt a Highway: BCA Board of Directors, staff and members removed debris from a section of County Road 22 in Minesing.
