The Barrie Construction Association partnered with the Simcoe County Heavy Construction Association in May to host Get On Site – Barrie Construction Day Event on May 16 and 18, to give high school guidance from the Simcoe County District School Board and the Simcoe-Muskoka Catholic School Board a chance visit civil and commercial construction sites in Barrie.
The two-day event was a “one-of-a kind experience” to showcase trades careers and demonstrate how things are done on local construction sites rather than reading it in a book, indicates a release.
Participants were given full personal protective equipment and onsite safety training prior to the start of the tours. Industry experts on hand throughout the day to share their experiences and talk about the benefits of choosing construction as a career.
