The Barrie Construction Association (BCA), partnering with the Ontario Construction Career Alliance and the Simcoe County Heavy Construction Association will give students a ‘one-of-a kind’ experience on Oct. 25.
Select high school students from both the Simcoe County District School Board and the Simcoe-Muskoka Catholic School Board will have the opportunity to visit both civil and commercial construction sites in the “Get on site — Barrie Construction Day event,” the BCA says in an announcement.
“It’s better being out there seeing how it’s done, rather than reading it out of the book,” the notice says.
“Students will have full personal protective equipment supplied and will have on- site safety training prior to the start of their visits. We will be providing the students additional learning with a tour of the CRS-Contractors Rental Supply yard complete with an excavator simulator and we will have industry experts on hand throughout the day to explain the benefits of choosing construction as a career.”
Students will be on construction sites between 9 am and noon, when they will travel to CRS for lunch & yard tour and will be returning to their respective schools at 1:30 pm.
