The Barrie Construction Association repots in its weekly eletter that the Ministry of Labour is working with stakeholders to develop and implement a Construction Health and Safety Action Plan (CHSAP) to strengthen workplace injury, illness and fatality prevention in the construction sector.

The ministry has been engaging with construction industry stakeholders on the development of the CHSAP since November, 2014 when a stakeholder workshop was held to identify a draft list of priority actions to address health and safety practices.

On March 31, 2015, an industry-based advisory group was established comprised of labour and employer representatives from various sub-sectors. This group will provide advice to the ministry on finalizing and implementing the Action Plan.

The ministry plans to hold consultation sessions this fall to seek input on how to effectively implement proposed themes and draft action items for the CHSAP.
