On Saturday, June 15, riders gathered at BCA member Glen Currie’s Currie’s Heavy Towing yard and took off for a beautiful, very wet ride through Georgian Bay. Once again this year’s Ride for Cancer was the most successful ever.
Thanks to the Ride for Cancer Committee – Bryony Buchanan, Paul Cormier, John Cuppage, Scott Everton, Bill Fligg, Dave Mayne, Joyce Mayne, Andy Sutton and Scott Ward, who organized the event which raised over $15,000. Thank you to the Ride for Cancer Committee for organizing such a successful day.
This past year, we sadly lost a member of the Ride for Cancer team.
Rob (Rowdy) Desroches of Sunbelt Rentals was a larger-than-life participant who is greatly missed by all who knew him. To honour his memory and all that he contributed the Ride for Cancer committee renamed the annual ride the Rowdy Ride.
A very special thanks to rider John Goodlad, who has individually raised more than $26,000 in all his years of participation.
Past BCA president Scott Ward came up with the idea 11 years ago, and the event has grown each and every year since. This year’s route ended at the Grand Tappattoo Resort near Parry Sound where the riders enjoyed a fantastic barbecue lunch thanks to BCA members Egress Systems of Canada, North Rock Group and North Steel.
