This edition of the Annual BCA Magazine covers the work of the BCA members over the past year, including the following highlights:
Community leadership is vital to BCA members. This past year members generously supported the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at RVH, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the local chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society.
This summer, BCA members once again rallied behind those people most vulnerable in our community. Redwood Park Communities helps build safe, hopeful housing to support individuals facing chronic homelessness.
BCA members participated in the many social functions including our Annual General Meeting, Hockey Tournament, Curling Bonspiel, Pub Night, two Golf Tournaments, Member Appreciation BBQ and the Christmas Gala.
Education remains to be an ever-growing focus here at the BCA – members engaged in numerous safety training classes as well as numerous Lunch and Learns and Builders Breakfasts. Seminars on the new Construction Act, improving site performance and online Gold Seal courses were extremely popular.
How to get involved! This magazine includes many interesting and informative articles about your association and its affiliates. The BCA’s strength is the active involvement and diversity of its members. All members are welcome to attend any board of directors meeting and can join any one of the many committees formed to provide you with the best service possible.
Should you have any ideas for future publications, be sure to drop a line to me at alisonsmith@barrieca.com.
I will continue to visit members on a weekly basis. It is always a pleasure to be welcomed so warmly and I look forward to meeting with each of you.
I am honoured to serve our membership, the board of directors and the construction industry as the executive director of this association. The BCA staff are committed to supporting members on all levels.
I look forward to seeing everyone at upcoming events, and please feel free to drop by the BCA for a visit with the team at any time.
Thank you,
Alison
